Abstract

The purpose of this article is to present gender approach as a perspective directly related and compatible with Person Centered Approach. Integration between both visions seeks to broaden thoughts and enrich therapeutic work through consideration of the sociohistorical context in which people are inserted. This work reviews thoughts of Carl Rogers himself on linguistics and work with women and oppressed groups. In addition, general aspects of both theories are pointed out, and complementarities and conflicts that may arise are checked. Finally, this article present considerations that should exist in therapeutic space, indicating benefits of having knowledge and consideration about the gender of the therapist and the consultant, both in individual and group work.
