Qualitative research, which aims to investigate the uniqueness, complexity and meaning of human experience, is configured as a broad model based on different approaches. It supports different methods and can be applied to different disciplines. Concerned with exploring the phenomenon, from the point of view of those who experience it, it uses the interview as a form of data collection. The qualitative interview, if carried out in investigations, as in the classic descriptive phenomenological research and in the clinical-qualitative model of increasing use in Brazil, is the object of this study. A reflection was developed about the moment of its accomplishment, considering the quality of the interview essential to the understanding of the phenomenon. This proposal aims to understand what happens during the interview and not just at the time of analysis. Therefore, the objective is to advance with the proposal of using an interview inspired by the assumptions of the humanistic psychology Person-Centered Approach.
