This article reflects on the empathic responses or reflections of the therapist in person-centered psychotherapy. The objective is to elucidate theoretical and methodological aspects of this way of accompanying, given various misrepresentations or reductionist visions in its use. First, it is conceptualized, then some frequently asked questions are answered, and in a third moment, some examples are offered. Finally, it is concluded that it is relevant to use therapeutic resources with the theoretical and epistemological clarity on which they are based.
