Abstract

The objective of this article is to demonstrate how Carl Rogers' model serves as an approach that fosters openness and transformation in gerontological relationships, thereby nurturing authentic connections. These insights stem from over twenty years of work experience conducted by the Foundation Espacios de Escucha in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The article delineates the characteristics and systematically identifies a series of catalysts for the healthy aging process, alongside factors that impede interpersonal relationships and hinder the complete development of a highly functional individual in this specific stage of life. It is concluded that the personcentered approach provides both a theoretical and practical framework that significantly contributes to work in the gerontological field.
