Early childhood is a crucial stage for the later development of the child. Fostering self-awareness and self-acceptance is essential for their personal growth and development, as well as for preventing future emotional or behavioral problems. In this regard, child-centered therapy proves to be a useful tool for the prevention and psychological care of young children. The aim of this article is to present the advances made in child-centered therapy in the prevention and psychological care, specifically in early childhood. It concludes that there is scientific evidence supporting the use of child-centered therapy in early childhood, both for care and the prevention of emotional and behavioral problems. Favorable changes have been observed in children, such as a reduction in internalized and externalized problems, as well as improvements in their self-awareness, self-regulation, self-esteem, among other aspects. For prevention, the importance of working not only with children but also with parents, teachers, and peers as agents of change is highlighted.
