Abstract

This study investigates the issue of corporeality in Psychology and, in particular, in Carl Rogers' Person-Centered Approach (PCA), analyzing the dualistic mind/body heritage of modern thinking that has crossed the history of psi knowledge. Faced with contemporary challenges in Brazil, I present the affective turn and the linguistic turn in the field of human and social sciences combined with decolonial and intersectional studies to problematize and enable conceptual updates in PCA. Art emerges here, as an incarnated field, offering a kinder look at different bodies, in their sensitive, creative, singular, but also social, cultural and political dimensions. Notes on Person-Centered Expressive Therapy, developed by Natalie Rogers, daughter of Carl Rogers, appear as a way of investigating the potential of artistic expressions in the psychotherapy process. Some experiences at the clinic also find their place in writing, mobilizing reflections on the themes: Body, Art and PCA.
