One of the most discussed concepts within the universe of Psychology is transference. Initially used in Psychoanalysis to define some aspects of human relationships in psychotherapy and the demonstration of past or unconscious conflicts, the concept, due to the expansion of science and the immeasurable universe that we call Psychology, gained discussions in the most diverse theoretical perspectives. Initially described by Freud, the theme, due to its fame, also reached the Person-Centered Approach, developed by Carl Rogers and his collaborators. Client-Centered Therapy, a clinical offshoot of PCA, has its view on this phenomenon, explained by Rogers in two moments, in chapter 5, Three Questions Raised by Other Views: Transference, Diagnosis, Applicability, present in his book Client-Centered Therapy. Client from 1951, and in a text from 1986/1987 never published in Portuguese, called Reflection of Feelings and Transference, present in the book The Carl Rogers Reader, organized by Howard Kirschenbaum and Valerie Henderson in 1989. Thus, the following article seeks to explore Rogers' view on the phenomenon and the person-centered theoretical perspective of the concept, with theoretical addenda from the interpretation of John Shlien, Rogers' close friend and one of the first person-centered psychotherapists.
